From his debut year to hitting his 100th race start, 23-time TT winner, John McGuinness MBE takes a seat in the Victory Café Cinema for a look back at some of his career highlights.
A master of his craft yet the Morecambe missile remains grounded and well aware of his humble beginnings. Moving through the highlights of his career, John doesn’t focus on his achievements and the records, but recalls the tales of the individuals he rode alongside.
John’s almost encyclopaedic knowledge shines through as he goes back to 1996 where it all began, remembering every detail so vividly. He quickly moves on to the iconic moments of 1997 and 1998, where he stood on the podium alongside his childhood hero, Joey Dunlop and claiming his first of many victories in 1999.
Coming into the here and now, John’s quick to dismiss those that talk of him retiring, with 50 years on the clock, “I’m riding as good as I’ve ever ridden” is how McGuinness feels about returning to the TT. He’s back with Honda on the Fireblade, and planning to give it his all as he hits 100…
