TT Rewind - 2006
John McGuinness continued his scintillating form by securing his second hat-trick of victories in just three years. Having first made his mark as a regular winner on the smaller-capacity machines, McGuinness had now firmly established himself as a master of the big bikes, claiming another Superbike-Senior double while also adding a rare Supersport triumph to his rapidly expanding tally.
Meanwhile New Zealander Bruce Anstey was cementing his reputation as the man to beat in the Superstock class, claiming a second consecutive victory. In the Sidecar ranks, Manxman Nick Crowe dethroned compatriot Dave Molyneux to become the island’s number one driver; the Jurby resident securing an impressive double win.
As the Centenary TT loomed, a new wave of contenders began to emerge, including former Manx Grand Prix winner Ian Hutchinson, Australian ace Cameron Donald, and people’s favourite, Guy Martin. The 2006 event also marked the debut appearance of Conor Cummins at his home TT.
