This thrilling Senior Race saw the lucky victor rise from fourth position and a seven second arrears in the opening lap, to first place and a winning 7.2 second margin by the finale!
The race kicked off with Guy Martin making an early running, closely followed by hot contenders, Bruce Anstey, Gary Johnson, and John McGuinness.
Making for a high-adrenaline race, the top three riders were flashing through the circuit with speeds in excess of 131mph. Things began to hot up on the second lap, when McGuinness began to get into his stride, completing a third lap over seven seconds quicker than his two main rivals. He continued to put the hammer down in lap four, smashing out the fastest lap of the race at 131.248mph.
This race was the winner’s 17th TT victory and saw him set a new race record time of 1:45.45.80, beating Steve Plater’s 2009 former record.
The battle for fourth between Keith Amor and Cameron Donald was also a spectacle to behold, and went all the way to the flag, ending in a tiny margin of just one second, with Amor posting his first ever 130mph+ lap on his final circuit.
