This thrilling Superstock race at the 2018 Isle of Man TT Races was an epic game of cat and mouse between its three stars: Michael Dunlop, Dean Harrison, and Peter Hickman. The trio swapped positions throughout the race, with Hickman posting a stunning new lap record of 134.403mph.
Harrison dominated the first half of the race, maintaining a lead over Dunlop until the third lap. Hickman meanwhile jumped from tenth position to third, intent on getting a podium position.
As the race progressed only seconds separated the three riders, Harrison just holding onto his position before Hickman nosed ahead – with just three seconds covering the trio after lap two.
The pit stops shuffled the order, with Dunlop hitting the front for the first time, his lead only half a second from the now second placed Harrison. A nail-biting few laps remained, with Hickman edging ahead again by less than a second with the two riders hot on his tail. The scene made for a thrilling finale which saw the winner take his first-ever TT win and set a new race record some 58 seconds quicker than the old mark.
