2017 Supersport TT Race 1
28m
The winning rider of this 2017 Supersport Race overhauled several pre-race favourites to take home his 14th TT win, equalling that of TT legend Mike Hailwood.
A tight race from start to finish, James Hillier and Michael Dunlop wrestled it out to take the number one spot – both taking the lead several times across the four-lap circuit.
Northern Irish rider Michael, overhauled Hillier half-way around the first lap, closely followed by his brother William, Gary Johnson, Dean Harrison, and Peter Hickman – seconds splitting the pack.
As they swept past the Grandstand, Hillier had re-taken the lead from Dunlop and it soon became a two-horse race between the duo when Dunlop overtook once again.
As the race pressed on Dunlop eked out his advantage over Hillier, but the real show was the intensifying fight between brother William, and Hickman for the final podium place. The closing 37.73 miles was a race of two halves – as both pairs fought it out for their respective leader board positions, with the winner taking the chequered flag by 13 seconds.
