Michael Dunlop, who already had a race win under his belt that week, was locked in a two-way battle with Dean Harrison in this high-adrenaline Monster Energy Supersport Race at the 2018 Isle of Man TT.
Dunlop’s second lap of 129.197mph shattered his own lap record from 2013 and propelled him into the lead over Harrison who had led on the initial lap. With just seconds splitting the pair throughout, the duel provided fans lining the circuit with some of the TT’s finest racing.
The two took the lead from each other several times, whilst the final podium position was wide open for Peter Hickman and James Hillier who in turn were locked in their own battle on the road.
Going into the final lap, Dunlop and Harrison were side by side on the road, seconds separating them – the final victor sweeping home to take a record-breaking TT win - his 17th in total. Meanwhile the battle between Hickman and Hillier went right up to the flag, with third taking the final podium position by just 1.8 seconds!
