2019 Lightweight TT
12m
This thrilling Bennetts Lightweight TT Race in 2019 was a game of cat and mouse between Michael Dunlop and Jamie Coward, both swapping the race lead on a number of occasions, and never more than a few seconds apart.
Dunlop opened the two-lap race in front, with Coward just two seconds adrift. The race continued in this vein, with the other riders never getting close to the duelling pair. Gary Johnson took third initially but was under considerable pressure from KMR Kawasaki teammate Lee Johnston who was racing up the leader board.
As they entered the second and final lap, Coward had taken the lead, but only half a second separated him and Dunlop, who was smashing through the circuit to reclaim his first place.
It made for a nail-biting finale, which saw the victorious rider flash across the finish line with a winning margin of just 1.29 seconds to take his 19th TT win. Second place claimed his first ever TT podium - a real celebration all round!
