2019 Sidecar TT Race 1
25m
This was an exhilarating start to the sidecar class at the 2019 Isle of Man TT Races, which saw the winning duo take home their sixth consecutive TT win, and ninth in total. The winning passenger also became the most successful sidecar partner in the TT’s history.
Pre-race favourites Ben and Tom Birchall set the pace from the outset, with John Holden/Lee Cain and Pete Founds/Jevan Walmsley just seconds in arrears throughout.
Two big name retirements followed early on, while the Birchall brothers and arch-rivals Holden/Cain remained at the front of the pack sprinting across the circuit in their battle for number one.
Other strong performances included Alan Founds and Jake Lowther who were battling for third against Alan’s brother Pete, and partner Walmsley – a fight that raged until the very end.
Another brother duo, Ryan and Callum Crowe, also put in a sensational performance running in a brilliant fifth and becoming the fastest sidecar newcomers ever.
The finale was a real race to the finish line, with the winning pair setting both new lap and race records in the process!
