2009 Supersport TT Race 2
25m
21-year-old Michael Dunlop stole the show at the second Supersport TT Race, following in the footsteps of father Robert, and Uncle Joey.
Although the start line was blessed with sunshine, bad weather earlier in the day meant the course was very damp, making the ride incredibly tricky in the earlier stages of the race. Dunlop took control from the start and was a clear 10 seconds ahead of pace setter and local rider, Conor Cummins.
Dunlop continually stretched his advantage throughout the course of the race as conditions improved, with Guy Martin, Bruce Anstey, Cummins, Ryan Farquhar, and Ian Lougher all putting in strong performances.
Cummins appeared to be in trouble as he entered his final lap, crossing the start line at just 98mph, however he soon made up for this, achieving his first ever TT podium at this race.
Newcomer, Michal Dokoupil also put in a great performance throughout, but disappointingly had to retire on the fourth and final lap.
The race saw four different manufacturers in the top four, with the winner storming ahead to victory by 31.01 seconds.
