2013 Sidecar TT Race 1
19m
This first Sidecar Race of the 2013 Isle of Man TT Races was a two-man race between quadruple World Champion Tim Reeves and passenger Dan Sayle, and last year’s winning team Dave Molyneux and Patrick Farrance.
Brothers, Ben and Tom Birchall grabbed an early initiative to lead the pack, with Reeves/Sayle on their tail. Pre-race favourites, Molyneux/Farrance were back in fifth, edging their way up to the leader board.
An early puncture resulted in one of the leading teams exiting early doors, providing Molyneux with the opportunity to latch on to his rival Reeves, with pairing Conrad Harrison/Mike Aylott in third. The thrills continued as the battle of the titans heated up, with Reeves’ putting in his best ever lap on the penultimate circuit to concur Molyneux.
It was a real Grandstand finish, with a fraction of a second splitting second and third place. The winning driver was also the first reigning world champion to win a TT race since 1981 - and this was his first ever TT victory!
History was also made when Estelle Leblond became the first ever female sidecar driver to break the 100mph barrier.
