2014 Lightweight TT
29m
The winner of this 2014 Lightweight TT Race received his first ever TT win, finishing with a strong margin of 14+ seconds.
One of the pre-race favourites Dean Harrison grabbed an early lead, but he was only marginally ahead of last year’s race winner, James Hillier, and young 2012 newcomer, James Cowton.
As the race progressed, it was clear that it was Harrison vs Hillier - keen to hold onto his 2013 title. Jamie Hamilton, Olie Linsdell and Keith Amor were also vying for the leader board.
On the second lap, double Manx GP winner Michael Russell shook up the leader board, when he declined to take a pit stop, shooting up to third place in the process.
On the third and final lap Harrison continued to lead, with Cowton back in situ and seconds adrift from Hillier, making for a close race all round!
The subsequent winner took home his first TT win, emulating the feat of his father who’d won the first Sidecar race days earlier – the first time a father and son had taken wins in the same race week.
