2015 Sidecar TT Race 1
21m
This opening 2015 Sidecar Race was full of twists and turns and saw the winning duo take home their second TT victory and a new race record time.
It was John Holden and Dan Sayle that initially led this dramatic race with the Birchall brothers in second and pre-race favourites Dave Molyneux/Ben Binns in third.
It was all change though on the opening lap, as Molyneux/Binns retired, allowing the Birchalls to take the lead as they raced across the circuit. It soon became a battle between the Nottinghamshire brothers and Holden/Sayle, with Conrad Harrison/Mike Aylott having moved up to third.
The Birchalls continued to respond to Holden, with the two crews fighting it out right until the bitter end, the victorious duo taking their win in a record-breaking time. The second-placed driver took his 12th TT podium, his passenger’s ninth – the most ever recorded by a sidecar passenger at the TT.
In a race of personal best laps, French woman Estelle Leblond, partnered by Sebastian Lavorel, also cemented her status as the fastest ever female sidecar driver around the Mountain Course.
