2022 Sidecar TT Race 1
17m
The opening 3wheeling.media Sidecar TT race at the 2022 Isle of Man TT Races was a battle that went all the way to the chequered flag between brothers Ben and Tom Birchall, Manx pairing Ryan and Callum Crowe, and sidecar legends Pete Founds/Jevan Walmsley.
As predicted, the Birchalls led throughout the first lap, their advantage was slender however, with the Crowes and Founds/Walmsley only seconds behind.
Yet, the dominant Birchalls continued to gain momentum as they entered the second and final lap, really putting the hammer down. Meanwhile, the battle for second was on between the Crowes, in what was only their second ever TT race, and Founds/Walmsley – with just one second dividing the two crews.
The subsequent winners took home their 11th TT win – and eighth in a row, while Founds/Walmsley put in a superb final lap of 118.72pmh to become the second fastest sidecar crew in TT history.
Newcomer drivers Lee Crawford and Harry Payne also put in stellar performances, alongside their passengers Scott Hardie and Mark Wilkes. Several duos were out of luck though, after a number of high-profile retirements took place later in the race.
