36m
Michael Dunlop and Peter Hickman were once again locked in an epic all or nothing battle in this second Monster Energy Supersport race at the 2022 Isle of Man TT Races. The winner taking the chequered flag by just 3.2 seconds – his 21st TT win; becoming the most successful 600cc rider ever in the Isle of Man TT Races history.
Dunlop led for the majority of the first lap with Hickman only half a second in arrears, while Dean Harrison maintained third. As the riders swept through Glen Helen on lap two and with less than 30 miles to go, Dunlop had extended his advantage – clinging on to a 1.8 second lead as Hickman continued to put the hammer down, while Harrison held onto the third podium spot.
As the race drew to a close, all eyes were on the battle for the lead – Hickman had pegged the gap back to just 1.3 seconds, both him and Dunlop on lap record pace, repeating their battle from the Supertwin race earlier in the week.
The final victor took the win by a slim 3.2 seconds, making it an epic battle of the titans for spectators lining the circuit!
