In this episode of TT Explained, we take a closer look at the different motorcycle classes that make up the Isle of Man TT race programme. From Superbikes and Superstock machinery to Supersport, Sportbike and Sidecar, each class is governed by its own technical regulations, shaping how the TT is raced.
While every competitor faces the same Mountain Course, the characteristics of each class influence preparation, strategy and performance across the two‑week event. Differences in engine capacity, permitted modifications and machine design all play a role in how riders approach the challenge.
Understanding each class, tells the story of how one course can produce ten very different races and why success at the Isle of Man TT looks different depending on the machinery beneath the rider.
