Several teams battled it out for the winner’s podium in the second ever TT Zero Race. There was also a £10,000 prize up for grabs, for the first team to record a 100mph lap – which American team, MotoCzysz, narrowly missed out on.
Mark Miller, riding for MotoCzysz, was up against defending champions Agni Racing who were represented by Rob Barber on the Agni Z1 and Jenny Tinmouth on Agni Z2.
As the race kicked off it was Barber at the front setting an early pace, with Miller and Tinmouth in strong contention. Local effort, ManTTx and their rider James McBride were a second behind in fourth.
As the riders raced past the first speed trap, the top three machines clocked over 100mph, with MotoCzysz the fastest, really stepping up the pace at the front of the pack.
As the race drew to a close, Miller was tantalising close to the 100pmh lap at 99.513, with Barber and McBride close on his tail – making it any team’s race to win! As the chequered flag fell, the iconic mark remained intact, as the winning team crossed the line in just over 23 minutes.
