It was a dramatic closing day of the 2012 Isle of Man TT Races, which saw the first ever cancellation of the Senior Race. However, all was not lost, as the reintroduced Lightweight class race provided a respectable send off for fans.
The Supertwin-spec machine race was a game of cat and mouse for Kawasaki rivals Ryan Farquhar and James Hiller who contented for pole position throughout the three-lap race, switching positions several times. Farquhar’s fellow KMR Kawasaki rider, Michael Rutter put in a sterling ride, holding on to third throughout.
The first pit-stop shuffled the top pack somewhat, but things soon evened out by the final lap, which saw the lead rider taking the win by a healthy 28.99 second margin – his third podium of the week and first win on the Mountain Course in seven years. The runner up took his debut podium, to complete and excellent week of riding.
