Brother duo Ben and Tom Birchall grabbed the lead from the outset at this 2015 Sidecar Race. They had strong competition in the likes of John Holden and Dan Sayle and multiple TT winner, Dave Molyneux and Ben Binns.
A strong opening lap gave the Birchalls a three second lead over Molyneux and Holden, and it was clear that the race was going to be a record-breaking one, with all three leading crews setting 116mph laps.
As the race progressed, the Birchalls and Manx pairing Molyneux/Binns, practically matched each other on the road, the gap between the two crews just seconds – making for a high adrenaline finish, which saw the triumphant winners break the old race record and take the win by a marginal seven seconds!
The second-place pairing had the consolation of claiming a new lap record though – with a record-breaking lap speed of 116.783mph.
