Brother duo, Ben and Tom Birchall were in a three-way battle with long-standing race winners Dave Molyneux/Daniel Sayle and John Holden/Andy Winkle in this thrilling second sidecar race of 2016.
With the lead changing on several occasions, this could have been any pairings race. Molyneux/Sayle led the initial charge but only for a short time before Holden overtook, the Birchalls seconds adrift in third. Only a few short miles later it was back to Molyneux, before the Birchalls grabbed the lead on the second lap!
As the dramatic race unfolded, the Birchalls really began to put the hammer down, with Molyneux in hot pursuit, relegating Holden to third, with Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance in fourth.
Following a high-profile retirement in the last lap, the remaining two leading teams raced up and down the Mountain to try and clinch the winner’s podium.
Other commendable performances included Tony Baker and Fiona Baker-Milligan who made the top 10; Baker-Milligan consolidating her tag as the fastest-ever female passenger with a lap in excess of 110mph.
