The 9th June 2009 saw Ian Hutchinson and Bruce Anstey, alongside Guy Martin and Keith Amor, battle it out to secure pole position at this Supersport Race.
New Zealander Anstey stole the show early - tearing across the Mountain Course to shatter his own lap record with a stunning lap of 126.549mph. The race also saw Amor, Martin and Hutchinson lap in excess of 125mph. For most of the race it was a four-way battle between the quartet, all circulating in close formation and at high-speed, thrilling fans lining the course’s circuit.
However, on the finishing lap the leading rider had to retire due a technical issue. The finale saw the subsequent winner claim their second TT victory and Honda fill the top five spaces. This included Martin, who took second, although it later transpired, he’d been riding half of the race with a blown head gasket!
Ryan Farquhar also put in a great performance and was the first non-Honda rider home in sixth. Local rider, Dan Kneen came in 11th and American, Jimmy Moore in 14th.
