Ian Hutchinson and Guy Martin took on the fight for the winner’s podium at this Monster Energy Supersport Race.
With perfect conditions across the Mountain Course, Martin stole an early advantage in the first lap, closely followed by Hutchinson and Manxman Daniel Kneen who put in a superb performance. Other close contenders included John McGuinness, William Dunlop, Ryan Farquhar, Conor Cummins, and Bruce Anstey.
Hutchinson and Martin continued to play cat and mouse for the remainder of the race each showing their individual prowess. The field behind were tight with just fractions of a second splitting Kneen, Michael Dunlop, his brother William, Keith Amor, Cummins, and McGuinness.
On their final 37 and ¾ miles Hutchinson and Martin’s gap kept closing – with the eventual winner taking first place by 3.03 seconds. Scotsman Amor, came in fourth, and claimed the lap record with a final stunning lap of 126.909mph.
