This thrilling Superbike Race saw some real dramatic twists and turns throughout. Manxman, Conor Cummins commenced the race with a stunning opening lap of 131.511mph, just shy of the outright lap record.
Mist overshadowed the circuit throughout the race, which saw fifteen-time champion, John McGuinness forge an early lead, holding a slender 0.08 second advantage over Cummins. Unfortunately, the race was not to be for either rider when both encountered technical difficulties further down the line.
Cummins pulled out all the stops for the majority of the race, with Ian Hutchinson and Michael Dunlop on his tail – all three gaining laps in excess of 130mph.
A new pit-lane speed limit claimed several victims including Carl Rennie and Guy Martin, with both receiving 30 second penalties, which ultimately cost Martin a second place.
Australian, Cameron Donald, pulled out a showstopper, clawing his way from 13th up to the top three by the final lap. With two high-profile riders retiring, this Superbike TT Race really packed a punch – with the final winner commanding a 50 second lead and his fourth TT victory.
