One rider took home his fourth TT victory and his first ever Superbike win in this exhilarating Superbike Race to kick off the solo classes at the 2013 Isle of Man TT Races.
In this thrilling six-lap race, Michael Dunlop, Cameron Donald and 19-times winner, John McGuinness fought it out for the winner’s podium. Gary Johnson set the pace early, but it was Dunlop’s show, with the rider putting in his first ever 131mph+ lap.
Over the course of the race, the leading trio, Dunlop, McGuinness, and Donald, circulated in close formation, with Guy Martin trying his best to edge towards the leader board. McGuinness, who rode in complete Joey Dunlop livery to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the 26-times winner’s first victory for Honda, tried to pile on the coals, but Dunlop had a 30+ second edge.
The victor’s eventual winning margin was in excess of 40 seconds, posting his new personal best lap of the Mountain Course. McGuinness also set a new outright lap record at 131.671mph, with the final top three making it a Honda 1-2-3.
