The four leading riders traded positions from start to finish in this incredibly close RST Superbike Race - making it any mans’ to win. With one crash and several high-profile retirements the race was thrilling and drama-filled in equal measure!
James Hiller and his Kawasaki led the first race of 2017, fighting off stiff competition from Dean Harrison, Michael Dunlop, and 2016-star Ian Hutchinson.
His first place was shortly overthrown by Harrison, for Dunlop to take the lead only minutes later! The pair weren’t safe though, as Hillier and Hutchinson began to close the gap – the quartet lapping in excess of 130pmh.
By the third lap, Peter Hickman had moved up the rostrum and was now in third, with Harrison and Hutchinson battling it out at the front – with less than half a second separating the pair.
As the race drew to a close, there was little between the leaders – with trio Harrison, Hickman and Hutchinson each showing their prowess as they made the final charge up and down the Mountain – the final winner prevailing by just 5 seconds – his 15th TT victory.
