This RST Superbike of the 2018 Isle of Man TT Races was dramatic from start to finish, with Dean Harrison and Michael Dunlop pitting it out at the front for the first four laps of the race.
Harrison shattered the outright lap record from a standing start, putting in a sensational opening lap of 134.432mph to take the lead from Dunlop, with Peter Hickman in close contention.
By lap two, Harrison had secured the fastest ever times in all six sectors. However, Dunlop wasn’t giving up without a fight and in hot pursuit lapped at an impressive 133mph+. Manxman Conor Cummins was now in third setting his own personal best lap in the process.
At half race distance, the battle between Harrison and Dunlop was really hotting up, but one rider’s superb race ended abruptly with a last-minute retirement – the remaining rider duly taking the chequered flag for his 16th TT win by some 50 seconds.
Meanwhile, Cummins and James Hiller battled it out for the runner up spot right until the bitter end - the victorious rider just edging away to equal his best ever result.
